MELBA TOASTS RIVALS AT DUNDALK

MELBA TOASTS RIVALS AT DUNDALK

Ian Fortune

Beretta Melba only recently returned from a layoff but has been in tremendous form for Graham Kelly.

On Friday night at Dundalk, the daughter of Ballymac Bolger and Greenwell Mo posted a rapid 28.30, the fast time for a couple of years at Dundalk, to win the opener.

There was a line of greyhounds challenging for the early lead but the inside draw worked in her favour and she asserted on the bend. Once doing so, she skipped clear to run out an impressive four length winner over Old Fort Major. On current form, Berette Melba is certainly worth following.

YUPPIE LOVES DUNDALK

The Open 400 on the same card saw Yuppie Love claim a fourth career victory for Francie and Kathleen Murray.

Despite a tardy start, the son of Burges Bucks came storming through at the second turn to take charge before going on to beat Longslip Del by a length in 21.50.
