ROUND TWO OF THE LEE STRAND IN THE KINGDOM

ROUND TWO OF THE LEE STRAND IN THE KINGDOM

Barry Drake

Always a fantastic event, the opening round of the 2023 Lee Strand produced some fantastic racing in the Kingdom last weekend and we are expecting more of the same tonight.

Nothing On You, for Patrick Norris and Mark Lowther, displayed plenty of early pace when scoring in 29.86 last week. It was an impressive front running display and more of the same is expected in race number seven.

It's a hot contest with the likes of the Jerry Griffin trained Raindrops, a 29.84 winner in the opening round and the Liam Dowling pair of Ballymac Feta and Ballymac Sallagh. Also in the line-up is Cape Island, a 29.83 winner last time for Michael McEllistrim.

BALLYMAC CAN GO WELL
In the opening heat, Ballymac Katie should go well for Liam Dowling.

The September puppy caught my eye in the opening round and if getting it right early on, a big run is expected. Brendan O'Shea's Crossfield Poppy, a 29.88 winner in the opening round, is next best.

CORK RAIDER IS OF INTEREST
In heat three, Butterbridge Roy should go well for trainer Kieran Lynch and owner Mark O'Shea.

The Cork raider ran well in the opening round and if building on that, he should make a bold bid.
