GER WALSH

GER WALSH

The Greyhound community in Galway are saddened to hear of the passing of a legend of the sport, Ger Walsh.

Ger was from the city of Galway and was always seen walking his greyhounds before the City became as built up as it is today.

Ger was a member and the main trainer of the new line syndicate, who ran their dogs under the Coolratty prefix, regularly winning around Galway, but not afraid to travel having ventured to the likes of Harold's cross, Drumbo, Lifford and Shelbourne Park. His pride and joy was Coolratty Rodge, who won around 8 different tracks, setting a new track record when Drumbo track reopened. Ger also loved the coursing field and he would travel all over Ireland to attend meetings, his knowledge and friendly personality insured he was known by everyone in the Greyhound community.
