TWO SECONDS FOR HENNESSY’S TOWCESTER TEAM

TWO SECONDS FOR HENNESSY’S TOWCESTER TEAM

Ian Fortune

Both Barefoot Supremo and Hello Hammond ran very well at Towcester on Friday evening as they continued their preparations for the Star Sports/ TRC English Derby but both ran into a good winner in their respective trial stakes.

Barefoot Supremo was favourite to win the opening heat but Sporting Chile got loose in the early yards and stayed on well to contain his pursuer. Barefoot Supremo displayed enough in defeat to please his handler, however, with the Paul Hennessy trained powerhouse failing by just two lengths to get to 29.43 winner Sporting Chile.

BIG RUN FROM HAMMOND IN DEFEAT

Hello Hammond ran into an even hotter winner with Global Vision posting a brilliant 29.14 in the third of the Derby trial stakes.

The Seamus Cahill trained Global Vision flashed from boxes and made every inch, although he was pressed hard by Hello Hammond in the second half of the contest.

After finishing runner up in the Shelbourne Open 600, Hello Hammond looked ready to race as he stalked the leader throughout. He changed sides a couple of times and eventually failed by just three parts of a length. Given his limited experience around Towcester, it was a massive run in defeat from Hello Hammond.

NO LUCK FOR GLORY

The other runner for Paul Hennessy, Boylesportsglory, carried no luck in the second trial stake. Moving off a rails draw he found traffic throughout before suffering bad crowding on the third turn. he eventually trailed in last.
