FIVE FROM FIVE FOR TULLIG CYRNAME

Barry Drake

AS EXPECTED, Tullig Cyrname (Droopys Sydney-Hail Cleopatra) made it five wins from as many starts in the opening quarter-final of the Lee Strand at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium on Friday night.

Trained by Pat Buckley for owners Morty and Patrick Ahern, the September puppy was sent off as the short priced 1-3 favourite.

Only four went to traps for the opening heat and it was Ballymac Finn who broke best, however, the exciting winner took over at the opening corner. There was little between the front two heading down the back straight, but Tullig Cyrname was much the stronger in the closing stages, pulling away for a brilliant four-length success, in a top-class, 29.39. Monabricka five lengths behind the runner up in third place.

PLENTY OF EARLY DASH

Showing plenty of early dash, Saleen Lucas (Droopys Cain-Clounbrane Kerry) impressed when posting 29.75 in the second heat.

Trained by Patrick O'Connor for Christina O'Connor, the 4-6 favourite slipped clear early on and the in-form winner went on to record three straight wins. Three lengths back to Hunters Val with a further length back to Killeacle Paula in third.

STRONG RUNNING

Midfield early on, Millridge Jayden (Bickerton Boom-Sign On Katie) showed plenty of pace when winning heat three for Donal O'Mahony.

The 3-1 shot was in top gear heading down the back straight, taking up the running between the final corners, the strong running June puppy beat Trowmedownsumtin, by a length and a half, in 30.91. Two lengths back to Ballyroyal Gatti, in third place.

BACK TO BACK WINS

Take A Gamble (Laughil Blake-Miss Pickpocket) recorded back to back wins in the final heat.

Five lengths back in third at halfway, the 6-4 favourite was forced to dig very deep in the closing stages. Showing a great attitude, the November puppy got up late on to beat Oriano, by half a length, in 30.23, with early leader Ballymac Harvey just a short head back in third.
