ALL ABOUT LAURELS CHAMPION ONE TIME ONLY IN CURRAHEEN PARK

Barry Drake

Laurels winner One Time Only was the standout performer at Curraheen Park on Saturday night.

After running a massive race to finish second to Explosive Boy in the recent final of the Waterford Select Stakes, the Tommy O'Donovan trained runner bounced straight back to winning form with a sensational 28.09 winning performance at the Cork circuit.

Owned by Paul Horig and John Woodford, he was sent to traps at a very generous 6-4. Just making the corner in front of Mancho Pride, he absolutely bolted down the back straight to move clear. It was all one way traffic up front as the top class tracker cruised to a seven length success. Macho Pride was next best with a length and a half back to the slow starting Good Gody in third place.

HOLLAND DOUBLE

Fresh from his Con & Annie Kirby success from Friday night, trainer Graham Holland was on double form.

It all started in the opener, the Una Creed owned Galloping Sydney made a winning debut. A 4-6 shot in the betting ring, the June puppy clocked 28.73.

In race eight, Chubbys Best completed the Holland double when winning for the Telly-Tubby-Syndicate. The even-money favourite showed plenty of early dash and in truth, he proved a class apart. A 28.42 winning run in the A1 contest. Witches Ethiopia ran her usual good race in second, two and a half lengths back.

CLASSY RUN

Ballydague Bella delivered a fantastic performance to win the seventh, an A2 575.

Trained by Tom O'Neill for owners the Dusty-Notes-Syndicate, the 4-1 shot was in front early and she showed massive all round pace to beat a very talented line-up. It was a superb performance to score, in 31.26, four and a half lengths clear of Ballycowen Luka.
