Barry Drake

BAMBIS LADY (Droopys Sydney-Ballybrack Gem) ran out a fantastic winner of the €5,000 to the winner TIME Greyhound Nutrition Cork Cup at Curraheen Park on Saturday night.

In the ownership of Breda Boyle and Patrick Sheehy, the 6-4 favourite delivered another paw-perfect performance to win the feature final. Clocking a sizzling 3.28 sectional to win the all-important early lead, Bambis Lady stormed around the opening corners in front, however, she was closely followed by Faypoint Susie. Always doing enough up front, the impressive winner kept finding as she recorded three wins on the trot, in 28.81.

The star of the event over the last couple of weeks, Bambis Lady got the better of Faypoint Susie, by three-quarters of a length, with a length back to the fast-finishing Fifteen Bold.

ONE OF THE VERY QUICKEST

One of the very quickest greyhounds in the country, Clona Duke made a winning return to racing action in race number five.

Trained by Graham Holland for owner Kevin O'Brien, the well-backed even-money favourite just made the corner in front, and from there, it was game over. Showing huge speed throughout, he beat Churchtown Syd, by six and a half lengths, in 28.21.

LOVELY EARLY SPEED

In the final of the €1,000 to the winner Curraheen Park Supporters Club A2 Stake, it was Ronnies Blondes who scored for trainer Denis Fitzgerald and owner Norman Hook.

The 3-1 shot took control early on, showing lovely early speed, he then stuck to his task well in the closing stages to fend off the staying on Carrigoon York, by a neck, in 28.98.

BRAVE DISPLAY

Racing concluded with a brave winning display from Glengar Jasmine as the 3-1 shot posted 28.78. Newinn Nifty looked in control for most of the journey, but the Corona Ryan-owned and trained winner pulled out all the stops in the closing stages to get the verdict and overcome the wide draw. At the line, a short head separated the front two, in 28.78.
