DARLENE’S JOURNEY BOOSTED BY AUCTION SUCCESS

Ian Fortune

The auction of the Honeysuckle and A Plus Tard silks at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night couldn’t have gone much better despite the inclement weather conditions.

Auction organiser and donor of the silks, Vinny Grennan was delighted with the outcome and wished to thank all that helped especially his auctioneer for the evening, Barry Caul.

He would also like to thank all at Shelbourne Park, Orla Strumble and Dara Geragthy for all their help and of course Cheryl and Peter Sutcliffe and Gilbert Anderson for actually bidding and successfully winning the silks.

Incredibly, the silks were purchased for a whopping €2,300 by Cheryl and Peter Sutcliffe and they kindly handed back the A Plus Tard silks to be auctioned for a second time. Gilbert Anderson stepped forward and was successful with a bid of €600. It means they raised €2,900 from the auction and you can understand why Vinny Grennan was so happy with the result.

Of course, all the money raised will be going towards the medical expenses of young mother Darlene Lynch and Viny was keen to remind everyone that his Go Fund Me Page set up in the name of Darlene’s Journey remains open. You can still donate at the following link: https://gofund.me/7dbfe38c .

Again, a huge thank you to everyone that has donated already but I urge those that haven’t donated yet to please give something, however small. Every euro counts for this young mother that has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
