The Irish again bared their teeth at Towcester on Friday night, providing over half of the eight heat winners as the second round of the Star Sports/ TRC English Derby got underway. There was a total of five Irish winners including the three fastest. Graham Holland was again the man to follow sending out three winners, while Pat Buckley was responsible for the fastest heat winner, Superfast Gorden. De Lahdedah also displayed awesome pace and power to win for Liam Dowling.

The Shelbourne Park circuit was going well on Friday night and as a result there were some fast times from some promising trackers. The semi-finals of the Talking Dogs Dual Distance saw Fleadgh Rileigh, Dapper Rupert and the dead-heating duo of Dapper Zara and Robbies Galaxy go fast.

Both semi-finals of the Champion Open Unraced at Kilkenny were won in superb fashion on Friday night but the display of Broadstrand Syd in the second heat was particularly good with the Johnny Linehan trained star leaving a top-class field in his dust.

Conditions were again tricky at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night with cold temperatures and a stiff breeze affecting the clock but many of Ireland’s best overcame the elements to impress in the quarter finals of the Bresbet Easter Cup, including Highview Splash who set a strong standard in the opening heat with a fastest of the round 29.73 return.

The Irish Retired Greyhound Trust (IRGT) has assisted in the rehoming of more than 2000 retired greyhounds in 2021, a new yearly record for the charity organisation. Established by Rásaíocht Con Éireann (RCÉ) / Greyhound Racing Ireland (GRI) in 1997, the IRGT is funded through owners’ prizemoney deductions, matched donations by GRI and private donations in its work to rehome greyhounds after retirement and promote them as domestic pets.

On November 22nd, 2021, pursuant to Article 36 of the Greyhound Industry (Racing) Regulations 2007-2021, the Board of Rásaíocht Con Éireann have directed that it will be a condition of entry at RCÉ Licenced Stadia, that Owners/Trainers must have updated all outstanding records on RCÉTS relating to the greyhounds/pups in his/her care. Failure to do this will result in race entries automatically not being accepted for racing for this owner/trainer until such time as the deficiency is rectified. Once relevant updates are provided, entries will be accepted again.

TRACES is the European Commissions Electronic Platform used in the Import and Export of amongst other things, animals. In its guise as TRACES Classic, it has been used for several years by Irish Individuals and companies exporting animals abroad. These have typically included individuals who undertake transporting greyhounds abroad for export.

This scheme is open to all owners and trainers who have incurred veterinary costs in the treatment of greyhounds to repair a *career ending orthopaedic (bone) injury which was sustained while racing or running qualifying Trials at a RCÉ licensed stadium.
