SHELLY SAVES BEST FOR FINAL

Ian Fortune

Allowdale Shelly put her rivals to thee sword in pretty convincing style at Kilkenny on Friday night as she took the feature, the final of the €1,500 Blackstone Kennels A2 525.

The Paraic Campion trained daughter of Droopys Jet was well housed in the stripes and she displayed the best early dash to lead the field on the turn.

Once going to the front, Allowdale Shelly was never under any threat. Boylesportsbingo gave chase throughout but there was no stopping the leader and she stayed on to secure a three and a half length victory in 29.08.

Elsewhere on the card there was a very taking display from newcomer Glory Francesca in the opener. Sheila Duncan’s daughter of Pat C Sabbath and Mays Maska led early but looked a potential star stayer as she pulled further and further clear to eventually score by eleven lengths in 29.23.

Of course, she is a half sister to Jaytee Patriot, amongst others, and is clearly one that will stay further in time. Watch this space.
