The final of the Errill Schooling Track A3/A4 525 was the main attraction at Thurles greyhound stadium last night and patrons were treated to a terrific decider with a three-way dead-heat the result of the feature.
It doesn't happen too often in greyhound racing that the judge is called into action to try and split three greyhounds crossing the line in tandem but it was the case last night in Thurles as Dysert Sonia, Courty Girl and Abigails Power passed the post in sync. The Errill Schooling Track A3/A4 stake itself has proved a competitive one throughout and the decider, in a way, was a fitting end to some high quality racing over the past couple weeks at Thurles Park. In terms of the action, it was Abigails Power and Courty Girl who made the early running with the latter running a brilliant second bend to take a two lead over Abigails Power midway down the back straight. Meanwhile, Dysert Sonia, had gotten herself into a good position in third and was beginning to wind up her challenge. Heading into the penultimate bend and you could throw a blanket over the trio with a length and a half separating them rounding the bottom two corners. However, the most likely winner at this point looked to be Dysert Sonia as she had motored into second and looked a potent threat. Swinging wide off the last bend however, Dysert Sonia opened the door for her rivals, and while Abigails Power railed tightly, Courty Girl also maintained her middle line to cross-over with nothing to separate the trio. A real thriller for the patrons in attendance, the time was a slick 29.22 .20s and congratulations are extended to connections of each greyhound who split the pot to take home just over €800 each. Thanks are also extended to Errill Schooling Track for their sponsorship of the event.
