Without doubt the star of last night's Galway meeting was that of Aoife McGrath owned Foxwood Manny as he posted a flying 18.76 for the sprint distance.
A winner of three of his last four starts at the Connacht venue, Foxwood Manny really stepped it up a gear last night as he produced a career best performance to run out a convincing winner. Out like a rocket from one, the son of Droopys Jet - Moanteen Beauty railed like a cat into the opening corner and tracked brilliantly to go well clear. Storming up the home straight, there were ten lengths in it come the winning line as the clock returned a stunning 18.76. A huge effort from McGrath’s charge who returned the 6/4 favourite.
ANNA BLITZES THE FIELD
Elsewhere on the card there were a number of other eye-catching performances and the first of those came in race three as Annadown Blitz landed a comfortable victory.
Owned by Stephen Dillon, Annadown Blitz was a 4/7 market chance and ran like that also in her bid to break her maiden tag at the second time of asking. Fast away from trap three, the son of Farloe Blitz - Rocken Pearl flew into the opening corner and showed impressive back straight pace to open up a healthy lead. The result never in doubt, Annadown Blitz came home six lengths clear as the time returned a good 29.08.
LIMIT TAKES OFF
The well supported Fast Fit Limit claimed his first win since July in a 550 yard event in race five.
Trained by Martin Fahy for John Quinn, Fast Fit Limit broke smartly from trap four to outpace his rivals on the run to the opening corner. From here, it was lights out for his rivals as the son of Over Limit - Fast Fit Misty opened an unassailable lead to eventually run out a nine length winner. The time was a brisk 30.28 as the winner returned a 4/5.
BACK TO BACK FOR BLAKE
A kennel in fine form of late is that of the Drombeg greyhounds and Fergal and Evan McAuliffe sent out another winner in race eight.
A winner on his last outing, Drombeg Blake was at it again from trap six and he broke well to dispute the early lead with Bumblebee Lana. The latter ran a better bend and narrowly showed in front entering the back straight but it didn't take long for Drombeg Blake to come back for more and take charge. Once in control, the son of Laughil Blake - Teachers Pet was much the superior greyhound and he ran out a five length winner, in a time of 28.85. The winner returned a 3/1 chance.
There were two veteran winners late on in the card and the first of those came in race ten when Danmar Buddy got back to winning ways for Danny Potter.
An evergreen April 16’ whelp, Danmar Buddy retains much of his ability and he was spritely into stride from trap five to show his early gears into the opening corner. Once in front, the son of ‘Paradise Madison - Danmar Mini’ stayed on well and despite the best efforts of Pinnacle Blue in second, Potter’s charge ran out a length and a half winner. The time was a smart 28.87 and the victor returned a 3/1 market chance.
Tiger Roll was next to pass the post in front and he is in fine form of later, recording back to back wins for Rhys Higgins and Michael Connor.
An August 16’ whelp, Tiger Roll took his usual smart break from trap four and showed a nice turn of speed into the opening corner. Bargain Devil emerged as his biggest threat in second and he showed some eye catching pace to soar into second place. However, Tiger Roll was as game as a pheasant out in front and he battled hard to record a length victory over Bargain Devil. A 3/1 chance in the market, Tiger Roll recorded a time of 29.08.
