Galway hosted an all-graded, eleven race card last night and there was one performance in particular which caught the eye as Mystical Luna blew her rivals away over the extended 575 distance.

Owned by Eoin Troy, Mystical Luna is a choicely bred daughter of ‘Taylors Sky - Skywalker Gail’ and despite being three times a scorer over the standard distance, she looked to be crying out for a run over the extended 575 trip. Connections were rewarded in fine style last night as Mystical Luna flew from traps, darted to the inside and led easily around the opening bend. From here, the gap opened in emphatic fashion and the chasing pack were already running for the minor placings. Storming up the home straight, Mystical Luna came home on her own, twelve lengths clear, in a very slick time of 31.25.

Elsewhere on the card there was a nice double for the McAuliffe kennels as Drombeg Dancer and Drombeg Blake both landed their respective contests in nice fashion.

Drombeg Dancer was first up in race eight as he chased a seventh career win. Fast away from trap four, the daughter of ‘Rio Quattro - Honeypound Chick’ was challenged for large parts of the race by Bumblebee Malory but after seeing off his rival, the Breeda and Kayla McAuliffe owned greyhound stayed on well to land the spoils. A length and a half in it at the winning line, the time was a good 29.06.

A little later on the card, Drombeg Blake followed suit, this time for Fergal and Evan McAuliffe who also scored on the Limerick card. ‘Blake’ came away well from stripes but it was his early pace which caught the eye to put him in contention at the opening corner. Despite shipping a bump, the son of ‘Laughil Blake - Teachers Pet’ got his head in front down the back straight and although coming under serious late pressure from the eye-catching, Spin The Coin in second, Drombeg Blake held on to score by a length. The time was 29.10.
