HANNON DOUBLES UP AT GALWAY AS NOVICES CATCH THE EYE

HANNON DOUBLES UP AT GALWAY AS NOVICES CATCH THE EYE

Peter Farrell

The novices certainly caught the eye last night at Galway greyhound stadium as both Noelles Fitzo and Jumeirah Chris produced two very smart performances to land their respective contests.

The first of the novice contests was an ON3 350 and it was the Noelle Divilly owned Noelles Fitzo who made light work of his rivals to come home a massive twelve and a half lengths clear. Heading to traps a 4/5 market leader, Noelles Fitzo broke level with the field from trap one but the son of Pat C Sabbath - Noelles Swiftco showed immediate acceleration to quickly open a four length lead rounding the opening turn. From here, it was simply devastating from Noelles Fitzo as he drew further and further clear to cross the line a mile clear of nearest rival, Larchill Pop, in second. The time was a smashing 18.96 and expect to hear an awful lot more from this January 2020’ whelp in the coming months. Of course, Noelles Swiftco has produced the likes of Secreto, Crafty Trivago and Skywalker Canny from previous litters so keep your eyes peeled for this fellow going forward.

CHRIS FOLLOWS SUIT

The next novice to produce an impressive display was Jimmy Buckley’s Jumeirah Chris in race five, an ON3 525.

An October 19’ son of Top Honcho - Jumeirah Lolls, who has produced some good greyhounds thus far, Jumeirah Chris took no prisoners early on as he showed the superior early boot from trap one to take control of this contest. Stretching out brilliantly down the back straight, ‘Chris’ had this contest very much sewn up as he maintained a strong gallop throughout to come home five lengths clear of Master Of Magic in second. The time was a very fast 28.85 for the 4/5 market leader.

HANNON DOUBLE

Elsewhere on the card there was a nice double for the kennel of Denis Hannon as litter comrades Springwell Zoey and Springwell Thomo both landed their 525-yard contests.

It was Springwell Zoey who was up first in race ten and after failing to raise a flag in sixteen previous outings, she wasn’t to be denied last night. Breaking well from trap five, Springwell Zoey was handy throughout as she chased Boris Bella into the back straight. Stepping it up a gear at this point, the daughter of Kinloch Brae - Springwell Dotsy railed like a cat around the penultimate turn and she took charge entering the home straight. Drawing clear thereafter, Srpingwell Zoey crossed the line two and a half lengths clear of Peteles Duchess in second. The time was 29.38 for the 7/4 favourite.

The double was completed in the very next race as litter brother, Springwell Thomo, made it five career wins in terrific fashion in an A2 event. Springwell Thomo didn’t come away too well from trap one but he used every bit of his seventy-two pounds to make his own room at the opening bend and go third. Showing a brilliant burst of speed down the back straight, Springwell Thomo quickly stormed up the inside of runners to take control and from here, the talented tracker knew exactly how to win. Staying on very strongly late on, Springwell Thomo sealed a three and a half length win over Croaghill Lizzy at the line. The time was a smart 28.98 for the 2/1 chance.
