It was an all graded affair at Thurles Park last night and there was no shortage of top-class performances over both the two and four bend distances.

There were doubles on the night for a number of kennels with the Guilfoyle, Morrissey and Scally connections all tasting success. It was Explosive Boy however, trained by Pat Guilfoyle, who produced the performance of the night over the 330-yard distance.

A winner on his last outing at Thurles Park, the Peter Sutcliffe owned Explosive Boy always had clear talent but he is developing into quite the sprinter having posted a rapid 17.80 last time out. However, that was a mere taster of what he was to produce last night as the son of Good News - Delightful Girl put his rivals to the sword. Out like a light from trap one, Explosive Boy powered into the opening corner and from there, it was routine victory for this talented speedster as he stormed up the straight to score by five lengths. The time was a scorching 17.58, a serious run.

Prior to that Magical Jasper got the ball rolling for trainer Pat Guilfoyle as he made it back to back wins over the extended 570 trip.

A very consistent type, Magical Jasper came away racing from trap three and the Alice Guilfoyle owned white and black took control on the run to the opening corner. A fine greyhound when on the bunny, it was always going to take a monumental effort from his rivals to turn the tables and despite Onyourway putting up a decent battle for much of the way, Magical Jasper ran on well to score a four and a half length victory. The time was a slick, calculated 31.08.

As mentioned, there was also a nice double for the ‘Cabra’ kennel and first of those greyhounds to pass the post was Cabra Luna for owner Paddy Scally.

A previous winner in 28.86, Cabra Luna returned to her very best as she came away well from trap one to show good early pace into the opening corner. Maintaining a strong gallop down the back straight, the daughter of Good News - Cabra Ebony stayed on gamely up the home straight and crossed the line a two length winner. The time was a career best 28.84.

The second of the ‘Cabra’ winners came in race nine as Cabra Dawn made it two wins on the bounce.

Owned by Ava Scally, Cabra Dawn chased Colmyard Pulse early doors but the daughter of Over Limit - Cabra Millie took control midway down the back straight and she stayed on stoutly to record a two length win. The time was a decent 31.30.

There was another double sealed later in the card as Tommy and Tina Morrissey landed wins with both Errill Daithi and Abigails Sky.

Errill Daithi got things kick-started in race eight as he followed up an eye-catching win at Galway last month with another off-the-pace victory. Cloneen Soldier led early on as Errill Daithi tucked in behind after a slow break. Errill Daithi upped the ante from halfway though, and the son of Toolatetosell - Security stayed on strongly to claim a three parts of a length victory. The time was 29.73.

The double was sealed in the final race of the night as Abigails Sky led from trap to line to continue a nice run of form.

Chasing a fifth career win from just the eleven starts, Abigails Sky was swiftly into stride from trap five and she maintained a good gallop throughout to make every post a winning one. Staying on well over the extended 570-yard trip, Abigails Sky crossed the line a length and a half clear in a winning time of 31.53.

There was another terrific performance over the 330-yard trip earlier in the night as Holiday Twix produced a dominant display.

Owned by Seamus Ryan, Holiday Twix has proved that she was a very astute purchase at Kilkenny sales auction as she pinged the lids from trap two to take over from Errill Tarzan early doors. Flying around the bottom two bends, the bird had well and truly flown for the daughter of Droopys Jet - Princess Aine and she ran out a five length win at the winning line. The time was a sizzling 17.69.

Downbytheabbey (Skywalker Puma - Over The Limit) was another to make it two wins on the trot in race four. Jointly owned by Abbie and John Morrissey, Downbytheabby produced a career best effort as she came through runners to claim a half length victory crossing the winning line. The time was a slick 28.87.
