Last night’s Limerick card was an all graded affair with the highlight being a nice double for the kennel of Mary Lynch with her greyhounds, Bright Dream and Bright Rock.

It didn’t take long for the torch to light for Mary Lynch as in the evening’s opener, an ON3 event, Bright Dream ran out a comfortable winner. Only a March 19’ whelp, Bright Dream was quickly into stride wearing the striped jacket and paced up the outside to sweep the opening bend in charge. Taking a two length lead into the back straight, the daughter of ‘Laughil Blake - Bright Tara’ was in total control approaching the final three hundred yards of the contest and despite the difficult conditions, ran out a convincing four length victor. A 3/1 chance in the market, the time returned a decent 29.48.

Just two races later and the double was completed. Another ON2 event, Bright Rock (Droopys Roddick - Bright Bee) nestled in behind in the early yards as Gurtnacrehy Dave dictated the pace out in front. The order remained as you were for the majority of the contest thereafter before Bright Rock took control off the final turn. Breezing past the early pace setter, Bright Rock rewarded his 2/1 followers with a three and a half length success at the winning line. The time was 29.31.

We had to wait until the final contest of the night before the 29 second barrier was broken but Selinas Oscar duly obliged in race 13, an A1 event.

A now veteran as a April 16’ whelp, Selinas Oscar (Candlelight King - Selinas Dolly)was a 3/1 chance in what looked an extremely open contest. Fast away from trap four, Selinas Oscar was outpaced to opening turn by the in-form Mohane Rosa but ran a beautiful second bend to nip up the inside and take a length advantage. In what was a nip and tuck battle thereafter, Mohane Rosa came back for more midway down the back straight and there was little to separate the pair heading into the home straight. However, pulling out more late on, Selinas Oscar was nothing if not game and held off the latter as well as late challenge from Blastoff Fire who flew home to grab second. A half a length better off at the winning line, the time was a swift 28.86.

Other runs of note on the night came from Oisins Choice and Caulry River who both recorded identical times of 29.04.

Oisins Choice was first up in race ten for the Free-State-Gang syndicate. Quickly into stride from trap three, the son of ‘Droopys Roddick - Drumquin Bound’ held his inside pitch around the opening bends to create daylight midway down the back straight. Once clear, Oisins Choice stayed strong and claimed an easy four and a half length victory.

Caulry River is a regular around Limerick and the Mary-Ellen-Gangs syndicate owned greyhound got back to winning ways to record his seventh career victory in race eleven. Fast away wearing the stripes, the son of ‘Farloe Tango - Horseleap Nicola’ led into the first corner before holding off Dunquin Flower by a length and a half at the winning line. The times for both greyhounds was, as mentioned, 29.04.
