A NUMBER OF NICE DISPLAYS AT THURLES PARK

Peter Farrell

Thurles Park hosted their usual twelve race meeting last night and there were a number of fine performances on the night with three greyhounds all recording identical estimated times of 28.95.

Perhaps the most eye-catching of the trio was Newhall Patch in race nine which was an A4 525 contest. Owned by Michael Kelly, Newhall Patch was having just her second career start and after running a fine race on debut, the daughter of Paradise Madison - Lillys Supreme followed that up with a commanding victory for connections. Quickly into stride wearing the black jacket, Newhall Patch was joined by Demon Say Ten at the opening corner but started to turn the screw at the 330-yard box to take control. Stretching clear thereafter, Kelly’s charge was really motoring late on and she crossed the line with nine lengths to spare over Demon Say Ten in second. The time was 28.95.

JASPER WINS AGAIN

Shortly after, track specialist Magical Jasper recorded his third victory on the trot at Thurles Park. Owned by Alice Guilfoyle and trained by Pat, Magical Jasper put this one to bed early as he led from a favourable trap one draw to take a healthy advantage into the back straight. Already four lengths to the good midway down the back, there was never any danger of the strong running son of Head Bound getting caught and he powered up the straight to record a six and a half length victory. The time, as above, was 28.95.

FIFA FOLLOWS UP

The final greyhound to post 28.95 came in the very next race and this was another procession victory as Petite Fifi ran out a convincing winner. Owned by Ger Butler, Petite Fifi finished at the tail of the field in her last outing but she was to put things right in emphatic fashion last night. Leading early on from trap six, the daughter of Pat C Sabbath - Cabra Fifa showed brilliant pace throughout to come home ten lengths clear of Breathtaking in second. The time was 28.95.
