A GREAT START TO 2021 FOR LEGER RUNNER-UP CASH READY

Barry Drake

RECENT Leger runner-up Cash Ready got his 2021 campaign off to the perfect start making a winning reappearance at Curraheen Park on Saturday night, taking the open 550, for trainer, Denis Fitzgerald and owners, the Cash-Ready-Syndicate.

After producing a decent start from the outside, Cash Ready was then in a great early battle with Inforapenny. Always doing enough upfront, he pulled a length clear to beat the gallant Inforapenny, in 29.97. (550). A brilliant start to the year for the classy sort.

BIG RUN FROM JIM

A couple of races earlier, Rossbeigh Jim caught the eye when also taking an open 550, in a really quick time, a superb 29.79.

Trained by Murt Leahy for owner Pat Comerford, the winner made the most of the inside to slip around in front. Really strong down the back, the leader moved four clear of Glowing Exile to the third corner. That lead was reduced on the run home but the most impressive winner still had two lengths to spare over the staying-on Glowing Exile.

DOUBLE FOR MURT LEAHY

Murt Leahy made it a double on the night after Ballybough Dalk took the closing race, an A1, for owner, Pat Carroll.

Livingonachair set strong early fractions but the winner was that bit stronger late on, finishing best of all to beat the early leader, by half a length, in 28.77.

MASSIVE EARLY GEARS FROM JET

Ballinakill Jet ran out a very comfortable winner of the A2 525, for trainer Graham Holland and owner, Larry Dunne.

Bringing his winning tally to three wins from just four career outings, the March puppy showed exceptional early gears to pull clear down the far side. Rosstemple Chad was making late gains but the bird had flown upfront. A four-length success, in 28.59.
