SAM TAKES HEADLINES AS YEAR DRAW TO A CLOSE AT DRUMBO

Drumbo Park was the only show in town on New Year’s Eve and the twelve-race card threw up some fine displays but none more so than that of Abigails Sam in the feature.

The step up to 575yds for the final of the Robert Connolly Memorial Tri-Distance saw Abigails Sam emerge a tremendous winner of the £1,200 prize.

In what was just his third start over four bends, the son of Skywalker Farloe and Geelo Lu Lu made it three wins from three starts in the competition. The Marina McKeown trained youngster had enough early speed to dictate the early lead and once forcing his way to the front on the bend, there was never any danger.

Stefans Jet gave chase down the back but could never get on terms. Instead, Yolo Tom came through for second but Abigails Sam was a league of his own, emerging a facile six and a half length scorer in 31.47.
