A glance through the list of nominees for the Rásaíocht Con Éireann National Greyhound Awards will highlight what an incredible year on the track 2020 was.
Each of the seven categories feature superstar names and there will be seven worthy winners on awards night.
Dog of the Year features three history breakers with English Derby champion Deerjet Sydney, Boylesports Derby winner Newinn Taylor and the Champion Stakes and National record breaking Pestana all nominated.
In what was a stellar year for the females, three exceptional names have been nominated for Bitch of the Year. Derby runner-up and Cesarewitch winner Meenagh Miracle is joined by the ‘Ballymac’ pair of Oaks champion Ballymac Beanie and National Puppy Stake winner Ballymac Ariel.
Incidentally, both Ballymac Beanie and Ballymac Ariel have a second nomination with both earning a place in the Future Star of the Year category alongside Juvenile Derby champion Skywalker Barry.
Sprinter of the Year will come from Brodys Magic, Grangeview Ten or Olympic Dollar, while the nominees for Stayer of the Year are Ballymac Kingdom, Dana Point and Skywalker Logan.
A full list of the nominees can be seen below. Given the current circumstances a final date for the awards hasn’t been set but a May date is possible. Until then, congratulations to those that have earned a nomination and the very best of luck to all.
