BEATBYTHEBORO stole the show with a superb performance in last night's eighth race at Youghal track. Trained by Kevin McLean, the 7-2 shot was recording a 26th career winning performance.
Favourite Chunky Exile missed the kick, but he showed devastating pace to lead. Soon a length and a half clear, it looked like it was a game over, but the winner had other ideas. Putting on a really strong finish, Beatbytheboro crossed the line with a neck to spare, in 29.17.
FLYING LATE RUN
Liam Twomey’s Witches Phoenix made the most of the drop to A2 class when winning race four at odds of 7-4.
Dunbar Delta set a scorching early pace, but he was unable to hold the flying late finish of the classy winner. Wagga Maid got second, half a length back in 29.46.
Ballymacoda trainer Patrick Cullinane was on double form. No Response just held the strong late finish of Knockglass Jane in the ninth of the night.
A 7-1 outsider, Patrick Cullinane’s runner was a head clear in 29.95.
BACK TO BACK WINS
Giacometti justified 7-4 favouritism to make it back to back wins in race 11, an A3.
It got tight for racing room heading down the back, but he asserted before the last to win, in 29.59, making it two on the night.
Young Youghal trainer Jake Faul also hit the scoresheet.
Nitro Maniac was winning for the first time in race 10, an A5 contest. Breaking well from the outside, he then found plenty of trouble at the opening corner. Smarty Jones quickened nicely to slip clear heading down the back, but the eye was soon drawn to Nitro Maniac once more. Keeping on best, the 7-2 winner stayed on well to land the spoils, in 30.21, half a length clear.
