WHITEWOOD AXEL DELIVERS THE STAR PERFORMANCE AT KILCOHAN PARK

Barry Drake

For the second consecutive week at Kilcohan Park, Laura Earle's Whitewood Axel went quickest on the clock.

A son of Pat C Sabbath and Global Liberty, he backed up his recent 28.65 winning run with another really smart 28.84 display on Tuesday night.

Showing massive early dash from trap five, he sailed around the opening corners in front. Setting a scorching early gallop, he pulled six or seven lengths clear down the far side. The outcome was never in any doubt, another fabulous front running winning performance, three and a half lengths clear of Jet Stream Vic, in 28.84.

BACK TO BACK WINS FOR ZIGGY

Only five spots separated both semi-final winners of the Grange Road Gallop & Greyhound Extreme A4 stake. In the opening heat, Ashwood Ziggy recorded back to back wins in the event.

Trained by Declan Byrne for owners John and Patrick Doyle, he took up the running before the opening corner, keeping on well late on, he scored by a length, with Rastafari Mario next best, nine lengths clear of Save The Name, in 29.12.

GRACE ALSO MAKES IT BACK TO BACK WINS

In the second heat, Autumn Grace was another to make it back to back wins. Owned by Lynda Butland, the winner drove a lovely opening corner to just make the bend in front.

Four clear heading into the second last corner, the leader gave Suirview Kea a chance after swinging wide off the last bend, however, the winner kept on strongly to fend off Suirview Kea, by a length, in 29.17. Five and a half lengths back to Ashtons Shadow in third.
