SKYLIGHT MAX produced a brilliant performance to secure the eighth win of her career in the mini-open/A1, the feature on Monday night’s card in Youghal.
Nioclas Walsh’s bitch boasts sizzling early dash and used her best asset to lead a strong field. Baunfaun Rodney, who was bidding for a seven-timer, turned second and went for a daring run up the inside at the third turn. Denied a run there, he was unable to get back on terms with the bitch, who stayed on well to win in 29.04.
Ger Gubbins’ Hollyhill Pedro made the most of a drop in grade to win the A7 in 29.87.
Clearing Witches Duneden was the key to the race and once he managed to do that, it was all over.
Gubbins doubled up when Hollyhill Abby made all the running in race seven. She had to work hard to hold her position early but once she did so, she was in control and raced to victory in 29.30.
IN OTHER RACES
Ballybrack Storm made it six wins in just 19 starts when taking race six for Gearoid O’Brien. Down in grade, he led into the first turn and stuck to his task gamely to win in 29.18.
John Kiely introduced a promising sort in the opener. Beechwood Brandy, owned by Kate O’Driscoll, broke best, moved middle in the early strides, but was clear before trouble befell many of the other runners. Strong from the front, the March pup posted 29.26.
