Trainer Kevin McLean continued his great run of form when landing a superb treble in Youghal on Wednesday night.
THUNDER BLUE BREAKS 29-SECONDS ONCE MORE
After sending out Thunder Blue to win in 28.96 around Clonmel on Saturday night, the winners followed once more on Wednesday night.
Ballybrien Slick finished best of all to take the opener, an A8.
The 2-1 winner coming home a length and a half clear of the unlucky in running Hollyhill Cassie. Winning time was 30.18.
MAKE THAT A DOUBLE
Mclean doubled up in race two, an A4, with the improving Philipstown Bid. Owned by Bridget Barry, the 6-1 shot showed plenty of early zip and kept on gamely to deny favourite Shebeen Shatter.
A length between them in 29.45. The winner looks well suited to the Youghal track and she is certainly one to follow going forward.
NOW IT’S A TREBLE
The race of the night came in race seven and it certainly didn’t disappoint with Kerryroad Butch coming from six lengths off the pace down the far side.
Tuckeys Charm looked in control throughout but the 7-2 winner got up, by a neck, in 29.25, making it a treble for the Clonmel man. Butch, a litter brother to Thunder Blue, previously broke 29 seconds around Youghal, as did Thunder Blue. A fabulous litter.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DON!
Finally, a little birdie tells us that Donogh McLean is celebrating his birthday today,
Happy Birthday Don! Keep the winners coming!
