The Whitewood Kennels Unraced ON2 525 continued at Enniscorthy on Monday and both semi final winners impressed but the headlines went to Karlow Mac as he continued the unbeaten start to his career coming out on top in the opening heat.

Only fourth into the turn, the promising son of Droopys Jet and Karlow Ming was left second after an opening bend scrimmage that ended the hopes of Ballymac Captain and Waikiki Bullet. Airplane Denny, after a flying start from trap three, led into the turn but Karlow Mac was too close for comfort once moving second.

Powering into the third turn, Karlow Mac, owned by the J-M-H Syndicate, struck the front up the inside of the leader before easing away to win by three and a half lengths in 29.11. After encountering crowding at the second turn, Kelseys Duke stayed on well to grab second.

The second heat saw George Roche’s Ballymac Velvet make every inch. The daughter of Ballymac Matt and Madabout Hannah displayed good early speed to get the jump on her rivals and she always looked comfortable.

Swithins Bullet raced in second for much of the way, although the odds-on favourite, Maireads Brandy ran on strongly, from well off the pace, to grab second on the line. Ballymac Velvet wasn’t threatened, however, as she raced to a three and three quarter length verdict in 29.26.
