BRILLIANT BAUNFAUN RODNEY

BRILLIANT BAUNFAUN RODNEY

Barry Drake

The brilliant Baunfaun Rodney recorded a magical five-timer when delivering another superb display in last night's sixth race at Youghal.

Slaneyside McDuf cut out all the early running, but Henning Olesen's winner was always within touching distance. Much the stronger from halfway, the son of Laughil Blake was always doing enough in front. Thunder Blue put up a good performance to get within half a length, in 29.39. (A1).

KELLEHER DOUBLE

Canvas Act made a most impressive winning debut in the opener, Jerry Kelleher's daughter of Droopys Sydney showing electric early pace to lead all the way, in 29.46.

The May puppy looks like a bright prospect.

TWO ON THE NIGHT

It was two on the night for the Kelleher kennel, Killeagh, as Canvas Flyer destroyed the opposition in race nine.

A well-backed 7-4 favourite, she won as she liked, in 29.21. An excellent wide-margin victory. (A5).

GUBBINS DOUBLE

Hollyhill Cassie, for Ger Gubbins, Fermoy, returned to something near her best when bouncing out and making all of the running to win race four, an A6.

The well-supported 11-8 favourite had to pull out all the stops to beat the gallant Whitty Champ. A length and a half the margin.

DOUBLE

The Gubbins kennel also recorded a double.

Hollyhill Robyn showing sizzling early pace to lead all the way. 15.72 to the third corner, the 15-8 market leader clocked 29.62 in winning the A5.

IN OTHER RACES

In the closing race, Unknown Design was another to show bundles of pace when winning for Tony Hegarty, Carrignavar.

A magnificent front running display from the 5-4 favourite who clocked a really impressive 29.11 in the A2/A3 contest.
