BIG RUNS AROUND YOUGHAL

BIG RUNS AROUND YOUGHAL

Barry Drake

Kilrush Star was the star performer in Youghal on Wednesday night as the Maurice Whelan-owned runner dipped under the 29-second barrier, clocking a magnificent 28.98.

Called in from the reserves for the A3 contest, the 9-4 shot took up the running before the opening corner and from there, it was all one-way traffic. A superb performance, eight lengths clear of Canvas Pip.

NEW MACHINE

New Exile (Ballymac Bolger-Ballymac Kia) delivered a top-class performance as the March daughter of Ballymac Bolger posted an outstanding 29.18 on debut.

In front before the opening turn, the exciting talent then raced clear and the well supported 4-6 favourite quickly put the race to bed. A wide margin success for the Andy Lynch owned runner.

REMEMBER THE NAME

Before racing, Knockboy Kay (Laughil Blake-Knockboy Kathy) was really impressive when stopping the clock in a sensational 17.59 for the 325-yard trip.

A half-sister to Knockboy Flight, she looks to have a bright future ahead. The September puppy showed massive early gears and she's one for the notebook for sure.

Unfortunately Knockboy Flight picked up an injury before the BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby and he has since been retired.
