BALLYBRIEN GOES BOOM ON DEBUT

There were two exceptional performances in Youghal on Monday night.

Ballybrien Boom, an October pup by Sonic out of Kerryroad Kelly, made an impressive debut in the opener.

A 4.05 opening sectional followed by 15.75 to the 750-yard traps put him in total command and Kevin McLean’s runner raced home clear of the promising Pionta Murchu, in 29.29. A stunning display from the debutant who looks certain to have a bright future ahead.

CAREER-BEST

Witches San Jose, owned by Anne Twomey, won for the tenth time and posted a career-best effort with a tremendous effort in the Talking Dogs TV A2 525.

The daughter of Head Bound and Witches Belle blitzed her rivals early and never took her foot off the pedal as she raced away to beat Aherla Scott by six lengths in a brilliant 28.82.
