Murleys Reel, for the kennel of Thomas Mansfield, was quickest on the clock at Monday night's meeting at Youghal track.
Prominent throughout from a great draw next to the rails, the 10-3 shot delivered a fine performance to beat a very strong line-up. Showing plenty of pace, he scored in a very impressive 29.17.
Black Malibu brought her winning tally to two wins from four career outings with another outstanding performance in race seven.
Making the most of the rails pitch to lead at the opening corner, the 10-3 shot was then in a great battle with Ringo Kid. Gaining the upper hand on the turns for home, Sally O'Donovan's runner pulled two lengths clear of Sheebeen Shatter, who made late headway. A quick 29.19-second run.
POWERED TO VICTORY
Our Dog Alfie powered to victory when delivering a superb winning performance in race four, an A4. Trained by Tom O'Neill for William Walsh, Kildorrery, the 7-2 winner got a dream run around the opening corners. Once in front, he quickly put the race to bed and he came home six lengths clear of Positive, in 29.29.
DOUBLE FOR MCLEAN
Trainer Kevin McLean was on double form as old stager Kerryroad Niamh took race eight, an A4, in 29.45, at odds of 6-1.
A couple of races later, there were loud cheers as the well-backed Dunbar Delta completed the McLean double. Owned by a local Youghal syndicate, the 11-4 winner won with plenty to spare, in 29.52.
