KILKENNY BRACED FOR ANOTHER VINTAGE CHAMPION UNRACED

Ian Fortune

As is often the case at this time of year, there is plenty of chatter about potential flying machines being prepared for a crack at the Champion Open Unraced at Kilkenny. A year on from a stake that produced subsequent Dog of the Year and sensational Derby champion Bockos Diamond as well as the Sprinter of the Year and Irish Sprint Cup champion Broadstrand Syd, is it any wonder there is increased interest in this year’s competition.

The famous stake gets underway on Friday, May 2nd and Kilkenny are holding an additional trial session on Friday, April 25th between 4pm and 5pm for potential Unraced entries. Trials can be booked through the racing office on 056 7721214. There will be no trials on Easter Monday, April 21st but there will be unofficial trials on the Wednesday, April 23rd (4 – 5pm) and Thursday April 24th (10am – 1pm) as normal.
