IS SHE THERE RAMPANT IN NEWBRIDGE DERBY

Is She There was absolutely dominant in the final of the Friends of Newbridge A1 Derby at the Kildare venue on Friday evening.

The talented daughter of Droopys Sydney and Dairyhill Josie had shown plenty of ability in the second half of 2024 but had gone six months without a win.

She put that right in some style on Friday, showing real alacrity at trap rise to make every inch of the running for Rosemary and Eugene Price and Colin Rosbottom. Canya Steve was the even money favourite after going through the prelims unbeaten but none of those on show could live with Is She There.

Flying from three, Is She There held a comfortable lead into the bend. There was a real battle for second with Harlequin Gee Up slipping around the corner in chase. Canya Steve was in third but he could never get going.

Instead, Bowadis Raven displayed the best pace down the back straight only to run into the back of Harlequin Gee Up between the last two bends. Rich Pursuit then stayed on well to take second but there was no stopping Is She There. She would go on to win by six and a half lengths in 29.83.

    A NOTABLE CONWAY DOUBLE

Earlier on the card, handler Shaun Conway took the other two finals up for decision.

Patrick Tierney’s Bluey justified favouritism in the final of the NTSC A3 Dual Distance over 550yds, leading from the turn to see off Scarborough Lady by six and a half lengths in 30.11.

Lotto Express was an even easier winner of the May Unraced ON2 for Conway and the Lotto Express Syndicate. The son of Ballymac Bolger and Shes Made It was sent to traps the 4-5 favourite and scarcely saw another rival. Making every inch, the promising youngster went on to see off Destination Dan by nine lengths in 28.95.
