Going virtually unnoticed amidst all the flying trials by Night of Stars contenders at Shelbourne last Saturday was a very notable performance from a young bitch called Oakfield Madison.

The January ’17 daughter of Paradise Madison and Have You One flew around in a solo trial over 525 yards in 28.54 for owner Thomas Jordan. .

She had previously beaten a good field over 570 yards at Thurles by no less than ten lengths in a flying 31.20 and earlier still had won another race over the distance in 31.35.

She is clearly a star stayer in the making but her litter brother happens to be the Brendan Maunsell trained Redzer Ardfert who contests the Gain Dog Puppy 525 on Saturday. He has a 28.28 trial around Shelbourne and a 28.07 trial around Tralee and won a race there in 28.35.

Looking back among the previous litters, a half-brother to Oakfield Madison was the very useful English Derby quarter finalist Danzey Exception.
