Gary Loughnane was in touch with news that his wonderful tracker, Ballykett Beauty, has just had her first litter of pups to Razldazl Billy.

The hugely talented daughter of Kinloch Brae and Tiermana Hawk reached the semis of the Oaks in 2017, but it was over extended distances that she really made her name.

Of course, later that year she famously won the Night of Stars 850 in her first ever outing over six bends. She also made the final of the Corn Cuchulainn in 2018, but it was in her finals starts that she really established herself as a truly special marathon performer.

One or two raised an eyebrow when she was entered for the Track Bookmakers Marathon at Shelbourne over the grueling 1025yd trip, but not only did she stay this trip, but she was an absolute star over it.

In the opening round she destroyed the previous track record clocking a brilliant 58.34. A week later she clocked the exact same time before justifying odds-on favouritism in the final. She won her three races through the competition by an aggregate of twenty eight lengths.

At the time her handler was tempted to keep going with his star, but ultimately it was decided to retire her to the paddocks and Loughnane seemed happy with the decision after she gave birth to three dogs and two bitches. “Yeah, the pups are all well ands the bitch has really taken to motherhood. I wasn’t sure she would because she was a very keen bitch, but she’s a natural. We decided to go to Razldazl Billy because he was such a great racer himself and he has thrown some really fast dogs. He’s a son of Brett Lee which provides a great cross. Let’s hope she throws something as good as herself.”

Indeed, we wish Gary the best of luck with his new arrivals. Given Ballykett Beauty’s pedigree and massive talent there’s a strong chance we could be speaking of her progeny for a few years to come.
