DWELL MOCK BOUNCES BACK TO WIN KIERAN SNR & HANNA PURCELL MEMORIAL

Peter Farrell

The final of the €1,800 to the winner Kieran Snr & Hanna Purcell Memorial 525 featured at Clonmel on Sunday evening and Dwell Mock recovered from his semi final blip to land the decider in comfortable fashion for connections.

Despite a stumble at traps one-week prior, Dwell Mock recovered well to finish second in the semis and he was still widely seen as the one to beat for the Scrapings-Of-The-Pot-Syndicate. Installed as the 11/10 favourite, the July pup produced a masterclass on this occasion to put the contest to bed early doors. Drawn in trap four, ‘Mock’ came away racing and he outpaced his nearest rival Hollyhill Keano in opening strides. Rounding in front off a 2.95 sectional, the son of King Sheeran opened a three length advantage over Bogger Fionn in second and in truth, the writing was on the wall for his rivals given his strong-running abilities. Posting a fast 16.27 to the penultimate bend, Dwell Mock stepped it up a notch between the bottom two bends and he stretched clear up the hill to put five and a half lengths between himself and Hollyhill Keano in second. Bogger Fionn was a short-head further back in third as the clock returned in a swift 28.89. Congratulations are extended to the Scrapings-Of-The-Pot-Syndicate and appreciation must also go to the sponsor of this event, Kieran Purcell.
