DIAMOND A HOT FAVOURITE WITH SPONSORS FOR DERBY GLORY

Ian Fortune

There was an audible cheer from the connections and many supporters of Bockos Diamond when he was handed the stripes at the draw for the Star Sports/ TRC English Greyhound Derby at Towcester on Monday afternoon.

The sensational son of Dorotas Wildcat is bidding to become just the second greyhound in history, after Toms The Best, to complete the Irish/ English Derby double. And sponsors Star Sports believe he is the one to beat, introducing the Graham Holland trained star at 11-10 to follow up his sensational semi-final display.

His kennel companion Cheap Sandwiches and defending champion De Lahdedah are available at 7-2, while Sole Mio, who is bidding to finally give Peter Cronin a first English Derby after going close so many times, is just 11-2 to come out on top.

They then bet 12-1 the sole UK representative Droopys Plunge, while Bombay Pat, despite his incredible ability, is available at a huge looking 14-1. The full market can be seen below.
