THRILLERS AT KILKENNY AS LARK GOES FASTEST

Ian Fortune

Both semi-finals of the Boylesports A3 525 went right down to the wire at Kilkenny on Friday night with Henry Kelly’s Karlow Lark containing Benalmadena Roxy to set the pace in the second heat.

Karlow Lark was razor sharp at traps, leading from the opening stride and she opened a clear advantage into the back straight but Benalmadena Roxy stayed tight to the fence to move second and this set up a tremendous finish.

Closing into the third turn, it was clear Benalmadena Roxy was going to push Karlow Lark right to the line. Karlow Lark was up to the task, however. The daughter of Droopys Jet and Karlow Ming dug in to hold Benalmadena Roxy by a half length in a very quick 28.83. Muffin also progressed to the final, finishing five and a half lengths further adrift in third.

BELL HOLDS ODESSA

Ring My Bell (Belles Direction/ Archaton Becca) and Kilara Odessa had a tremendous tussle in the opening heat with the pair going head to head up the run in.

Kilara Odessa set the pace for much of the way, flying up the fence to lead the field into the back straight.

Ring My Bell, despite making a slow exit, ran a great second bend to challenge at halfway before going to the front at the third turn. Kilara Odessa came again on the run in but Ring My Bell, owned by Brandon Ryan-Webster, held on to take the verdict by a head in 29.04.
