There were a series of impressive displays last night at Clonmel Greyhound Stadium but the stars of the show were Laughil Peter and Glavin Blake who both ran out with easy victories.
The Jennings Family have produced numerous Classic class greyhounds over the years and they look to have another cracking dog on their hands in the shape of Laughil Peter. The lightly raced February 18’ whelp scored in 18.08 on debut at Cork and despite fluffing his lines at traprise next time out, he was inch perfect at Clonmel last night. The 84 pounder took a flier from trap five to lead the field a merry dance into the opening corner. Never breaking stride around the bottom two bends, the son of ‘Tyrur Big Mike - Laughil Liz’ was in total control heading for home. Powering over the line, the Michael O’Donovan trained dog recorded a four length win, in a fantastic time of 16.17. The winner returned the 5/4 favourite.
Soon after, Glavin Blake made it back to back wins in spectacular fashion for owner, Michael O’Sullivan. A winner last time out nin 29.16, ‘Blake’ was sent to traps the 6/4 favourite and he was well on his way with a slick break wearing the stripes. He had Kalarika for company heading into the back straight but the superior pace of Galvin Blake saw him breeze past his rival mid way down the back. From here, it was a straightforward night’s work with the son of ‘Laughil Blake - Bellers Sky’ storming up the home straight to record a five and a half length victory. The time was a flying 28.70.
