After a brilliant 28.64 debut performance, the Graham Holland trained Nitro Jen followed up that win with a runaway victory in the final of the €700 to the winner, ‘Spring ON2 Unraced 525’ at Clonmel.

Drawn once again in trap two, Nitro Jen was even faster into stride last night as the Pig-Iron syndicate owned bitch flew into the opening turn in front of nearest rival, On Stage Daisy.

Showing good courage at the opening turn, the daughter of ‘Droopys Sydney - Riverside Charm’ went through the eye of a needle to take a three length lead into the back straight. The writing was on the wall thereafter as the promising black stepped it up a notch to come home over seven lengths to the good. The time was a very fast 28.83 with the chasing hard On Stage Daisy staying on for second.

Elsewhere on the card the semi finals of the ‘Mary Bridget & Tommy Glannon Memorial 525’ got underway and Daring Miggie produced a strong finish to chin Emers Velvet on the line in the opening semi final.

It was Toras Jet who sprung out in front from trap four to make the early running with Emers Velvet showing fine early dash to creep into second place. Daring Miggie (Droopys Cain - Daring Tavern) lay in fourth place at this point but wasn’t too far off the pace. Emers Velvet showing the superior back straight pace to take up the running at the penultimate bend with Daring Miggie now stalking the leader and looking ominous in second place. The winning line now in sight, Daring Miggie stormed home to chin the Emers Velvet, on the line. The distance was a head as the clock read a good 29.14. These two will do battle again next Sunday night in the decider.

In the second semi final it was Fortune Maker who took a ping break from trap five to gallop across to the rail and get first run on his rivals. However, three lengths separated the first four greyhounds down the back straight and it was Nomadic Toby (Droopys Jet - Nomadic Brandy) who was showing the superior speed from trap six. Entering the turn for home and Fortune Maker still showed in front but drifting wide, Nomadic Toby, owned by Elizabeth Lonergan, flew up the middle of the track to win by a length. The time was a good 29.26.
