The final of the Arthur Boyle Memorial was the feature at Dundalk on Friday evening and Monleek Idaho produced a power-packed effort into the third turn to assert in the 550yd contest.
John and Rita Downey’s daughter of Droopys Cain and Lemon Zara was unbeaten in the competition prior to the decider although her record looked under threat when she made a slow start from the outside box.
Her supporters needn’t have worried, however. Moving through the gears down the long back straight, the September ’19 whelp struck the front well before the third turn. Four Winds Blow followed her through into second and stayed on well but Monleek Idaho ran out a convincing wnner by a length and a quarter in 30.14.
