One greyhound who is riding the crest of a wave at present is that of the Graham Campbell-owned Bionic Bandit and the October 19’ whelp sealed a three-timer at Clonmel Greyhound Stadium on Friday night.
A son of Laughil Blake and Fourpenny Pearl, Bionic Bandit started his career on fire as he recorded back-to-back wins at the Suirside venue, clocking a brilliant 16.36 in just his second start. A step up in class saw the speedster run up against the likes of superstar bitches Buckos Leah and Benalmadena Roxy shortly after but he soon returned to form at the start of December as he ran out a comfortable winner when stopping the clock in 16.49. That victory was to kick-start a purple patch for Bionic Bandit as he has now romped to success on consecutive Friday nights at Clonmel, posting career best efforts of 16.28 and 16.21 in the process.
Sold by John Ryan to Graham Campbell, Bionic Bandit is proving to be something of a sprinting specialist and his latest victory brings his career record to an impressive six wins from just ten starts. Bred in the purple from a damline that has produced some outstanding greyhounds over the years such as English Puppy Derby winner Glenpadden Rock, Glenpadden Ace and Glenpadden Post to name a few, it’s certainly no fluke that Bionic Bandit is producing brilliant performance on a weekly basis and keep an eye for his next outing where he’ll be bidding to add to his growing reputation.
