Question

To ask the Minister for Agriculture; Food and the Marine the current policy regarding the employment of persons with disabilities in his Department and in each State and semi-State body under the aegis of his Department; the disability quota of his Department at present; if there is an active campaign to increase the disability workforce from the current target of 3% to a minimum of 6% by 2024; if this quota has now been exceeded; if so, the details of same; if there has been an advertised competition in relation to the quota; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Response:

Rásíocht Con Éireann has adopted a Diversity & Inclusion Policy towards facilitating a diverse and inclusive working environment.

National Disability Authority Part 5 Statutory Returns relating to staff employed by RCÉ at 31st December 2020 was returned on February 10th, 2021 to the DAFM.

Staff across all departments employed at the 31st December 2020 were surveyed with responses received from 87 employees (53.7%).

19 employees (11.7%) declared a disability as defined under the Disability Act 2005.

EmployAbility is a registered charity who provide a professional employment service supporting people with an illness, injury or disability to secure and maintain employment. The service is part of the Department of Social Protection Sponsored National Supported Employment Programme. RCE is scheduled to meet with EmployAbility on January 6th towards developing a programme together for 2021

RCÉ participates in the national monitoring committee as established by the Department.
